The Darfield site is starting to take even more shape with the construction of the main dryer building approaching a height of 17 metres and the roof is now on the silo gallery. We’ve also started fencing the farm as well as carrying out tree planting around some of our boundaries. We’ve still got a way to go but the countdown really is on – August 2012 isn’t far away! Check out our latest video section for our ‘Introduction to Darfield’ animation to get an idea for what the site will look like when it’s finished.
The dairy industry is growing in Canterbury so we’ve already started thinking about the future and have lodged consents with the Selwyn District Council and Environment Canterbury to construct a second milk powder dryer. This would give us double the processing capacity and will only be a fraction larger than the one we’re building now.
